The faculty of deduction is certainly contagious, Watson.” –Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Problem of Thor Bridge The gaslit streets of Victorian London. Horse-drawn broughams, hansoms, and dog-carts rattle over the cobblestone streets, pulling their passengers through the pea-soup fog. On every street corner, you pass booksellers, clubs, prisons, music halls, doctors, tea houses, and steamship companies. Yet in the shadows and dark alleys of this great city, horrible and cunning crimes are committed daily, confounding the policemen of Scotland Yard. Still, even the most ingenious crime is only a puzzle for the world’s only consulting detective—Sherlock Holmes! Ten fully revised cases for the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective line from Space Cowboys will soon be available with the newest standalone box, The Thames Murders and Other Cases. Like the previously released Jack the Ripper & West End Adventures, The Thames Murders and Other Cases offers ten thrilling cases, each one drawing you into the mystery surrounding a deadly crime in the world of Sherlock Holmes. Whether you’re playing alone or with up to eight players, you’ll need everyone’s wits to solve the case. Important note: The ten cases in The Thames Murders and Other Cases are the same ten cases released in the Ystari version of the game Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, now fully revised and retranslated. The solutions and contents of some cases have changed. Like previous adventures in the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective line, every case in The Thames Murders and Other Cases draws you into a perplexing mystery on the streets of Victorian London. Each case begins the same way—with an introduction read aloud, relaying the facts of the case. From that starting point, the city of London opens up before you. Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective offers a drastic departure from every other board game—even other cooperative games. You and your friends are not confined by taking turns, one after another. You aren’t even limited in where you can go. The entire city of London is yours to investigate and explore, spread out on a physical map for you to pore over. Beginning your investigation is simply a matter of deciding where you want to go on the map. Perhaps you and your fellow investigators decide to visit the scene of the crime and search the area for clues. Every location on the map corresponds to a simple set of coordinates—by looking up those coordinates in your case book, you’ll be able to read what you find at the scene of the crime. The passages within this case book give you the chance to notice suspicious objects and read your interviews with suspects… but you won’t find your way too far without consulting some of the other resources at your disposal. Alongside your map and your case book, you have some other pertinent items, starting with your London Directory. Within this short booklet, you’ll find the addresses of countless people within London. Perhaps you learn that a certain Leticia Garcia may have been implicated in your latest case. By looking her up in the London Directory, you can find her address, allowing you to turn to her section in the case book and continue your investigation! And of course, you wouldn’t be fully equipped for your job without a detective’s most overlooked tool: the daily issue of The Times newspaper, available for you to peruse and scan for any relevant information. Even though the clues in The Times may not be plainly laid out for you, there’s still plenty of information that may prove crucial to interpreting a clue and deciding on your next step—if you can find it mixed in among articles, obituaries, and advertisements. The clues are all before you, and ten unique cases await in The Thames Murders and Other Cases. From the curious case of The Munitions Magnate, to The Pilfered Paintings, to The Mummy’s Curse, every case offers a new challenge for your deductive skills. It’s up to you and your friends to conduct your own investigations, visiting the witnesses, the suspects, and the scene of the crime in order to piece together the narrative behind each crime.

A fun blend of P.G. Wodehouse, steampunk, and a touch of Sherlock Holmes. Dolley is a master at capturing and blending all these elements. More than fascinating, this work is also rip-roaring fun! (SF Revu) What Ho, Automaton! chronicles the adventures of Reggie Worcester, gentleman consulting detective, and his automaton valet, Reeves. Reggie, an avid reader of detective fiction, knows two things about solving crime: One, the guilty party is always the person you least suspect. And, two, the Murders in the Rue Morgue would have been solved a lot sooner had the detective the foresight to ask the witnesses if they’d seen any orangutans recently. Reeves needs all his steam-powered cunning and intellect to curb the young master’s excessive flights of fancy. And prevent him from getting engaged. This book contains two stories set in an alternative 1903 where an augmented Queen Victoria is still on the throne and automata are a common sight below stairs. 1. Language: English. There are approximately 160 million women living in America. This is a story of just one woman. As the story unfolds, Linda gradually learns that some people do deserve to die, but that she is not one of those people. Linda Darby is a seven-year divorcee, living quietly in a small let-the-world-go-by beach town on the coast of Oregon, who day trades for a living. Her only close friend is a widowed elderly woman who manages a small consulting company, which, as is later discovered, never has visitors, sends and receives its business correspondence only by courier, and is not listed in any phone directory. No one in town knows what kind of consulting the company does, but the rumor is that whatever they do is done for the government. Linda doesn’t date local men. When her celibacy grows intolerable, she visits nearby towns to frequent the watering holes of successful men. Her motto: No relationships. No second dates. No use of her real name during one-night stands. Then one evening, Linda goes for a walk, and nothing for her is ever the same. She is dragged into an alley by two men, but saved by a third, a stranger who disappears as suddenly as he appeared. The next day, she finds out the two men in the alley had been killed, the town’s first murders ever. The following day, she learns that hours before she had been dragged into the alley, her close friend was tortured and killed. The next night, she awakens several hours after going to bed to find a man sitting in her bedroom, watching her. In the days that follow, events stretching all the way to the nation’s capital change who Linda is, what she thinks, and how she will live the rest of her life. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Amy B. Taking a deep breath, Watson nodded. He could accept it. He could even understand it. And it made him smile.... Sherlock Holmes was human after all. Sherlock Holmes, London’s most celebrated consulting detective, is, by all accounts, a very difficult man to live with. His longtime companion, Dr. John Watson, must be one of the most patient men alive. As the two bicker one day regarding Watson’s write-up of their previous case, Holmes refuses Watson’s invitation to join him that evening for some...otherworldly entertainment. Ever the skeptic, renowned clairvoyant and illusionist Pierre Bastion is the last person Holmes wants to see. When the clairvoyant turns his attention to Sherlock Holmes, things become intriguing. Bastion’s little deductions makes Holmes suddenly agitated and in a state Watson has never seen. When a string of horrific murders linked to the Boxer Rebellion in China has Scotland Yard in a tizzy, Sherlock Holmes is in the midst of it all. Knowing his friend is holding a great secret, Watson vows to help in any way he can. That means keeping the most earth-shattering news about the great detective quiet. As a deadly foe once more appears in his life, Sherlock is joined by some unique characters, and the perceived history of Sherlock Holmes is put to the test. 1. Language: English. 1990; Oxford, England, and the respectable facade of the City of Dreaming Spires is being shattered by a series of brutal murders. Police chief Neil Lowe needs a quick result, especially if it allows him more time in the cafe. Rookie constable May Pearce is left disillusioned by what appears to be an orchestrated cover-up at the highest level; this is not why she joined the force.  Radio reporter Verity Hunter has noticed that the choice of victim suggests a far deeper motive than that of a straight psycho-killer - a particular breed of retribution is at play - and she stumbles upon another aspect of Oxford hidden from view - the world of “elite” secret societies. Her boyfriend Keith is on the same page, and his consulting of the direct-talking consciousness guru Max Zeall makes him realize that there are spiritual components dictating the way things are playing out. It’s these very same forces which provide the opportunity to restore justice and balance.  A crime thriller set during a time of great cultural change, (the last days of Thatcherism, the Poll Tax riots, the fall of Communism, the first Gulf War, Acid House and Rave culture,) gets taken to uncharted territories through allegory and metaphor, and the narrative’s interplay with spiritual teachings. As such, The Cause & the Cure can be listened to on many different levels, according to the listener's own consciousness. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Devlin.
